Dear Fellow Atlantans,
I’m Wayne Martin, a proud son of Atlanta — and like many of you, I know what it means to face real challenges, and to hold onto real hope. When Atlanta was preparing for the 1996 Olympic Games, I was a young student at Inman Middle School, watching the city rise to new heights. I didn’t know the leaders at City Hall, but I believed in their vision because I could see it unfolding around me. At the same time, my own family was facing one of its hardest seasons — experiencing homelessness and living for two years in shelters like the Atlanta Union Mission and the Salvation Army.

But Atlanta saved us. Through the help of Atlanta Housing and Atlanta Public Schools, my family found permanent housing, a quality education, and partnerships that made all the difference. This city gave me more than a second chance — it gave me a future. It gave me focus. That’s why I have spent my career serving others: as a public servant, a corporate executive, a minister, and a mentor. And that’s why I am running to represent you on the Atlanta City Council in District 11.

I’ve been blessed to lead major initiatives in government affairs for organizations like Morehouse School of Medicine, Starbucks Coffee Company, Comcast, and the Atlanta Housing Authority. I’ve mentored young men through programs I created like Iron Sharpens Iron and Covenant Scholars, giving back the same hope that was once given to me.

Now, I’m ready to bring that same spirit of leadership and service to Atlanta’s District 11. I believe we can build a Southwest Atlanta that honors our history, invests in our families, and secures a stronger future for the next generation. I invite you to join me. Together, we can make Atlanta a FUTURE-FOCUSED CITY and the beacon of opportunity it’s meant to be — for everyone.
